A 61-year-old man was arrested in July and last Tuesday is facing several charges in Los Angeles.

The man was identified as Eric Weinberg, a veteran TV producer and writer who worked on shows such as “Scrubs” and “Californication.”

Weinberg has been charged with 18 counts that include rape, sexual battery and false imprisonment by violence, the Guardian reported.

The writer/ producer was initially arrested in July at his Los Angeles home but was released on a $3.2 million bond. He was once again arrested on Tuesday, Oct. 6, but also released not long after on a $5 million bond.

According to Los Angeles district attorney George Gascon, the accused used his Hollywood credentials to lure young women to photo shoots after which he would sexually assault them.

“The defendant relied on his Hollywood credentials to lure young women for photo shoots where he allegedly sexually assaulted them,” Gascón said at a press conference. “Power and influence can corrupt some to hurt others that often leads to a lifetime of trauma for those who are victimised.”

Authorities added that the sexual assaults occurred between 2014 to 2019. Dozens of women came forward since news of Weinberg’s arrest came out in July according to prosecutors.

At the time, the 61-year-old was already facing several counts of sexual assault that date back to 2012.

Police added that Weinberg would target women in their 20s and 30s he would spot at grocery stores, coffee shops and other public places.

After that, he would try to convince them to participate in photo shoots. Once the women agreed, he would then assault them after the shoots that were set up in his home.

Gascon and his office initially requested that Weinberg remains in detention without bail. This was however denied by a judge.

Weinberg is now out on jail and is set to be arraigned on Oct. 25.
