A Navy Mechanic has been slapped with an unprecedented 210-year prison sentence on Tuesday, June 22, for sexually abusing at least seven infants and toddlers, as well as sharing videos of their assault on the internet.
The U.S. District Judge Jeffrey Meyer and government prosecutors reportedly called the case the worst of its kind they’ve ever seen.
Randall Tilton, of New Hampshire, was arrested on Nov. 1, 2019, on sexual assault charges after he admitted during questioning with the Groton Police that he had sexually abused several minor victims and filmed some of these incidents of rape and molestation, Stars and Stripes reported.
Devices, including his laptop, tablet, cellphone, and two flash drives, that the police seized from Tilton's home confirmed that he had sexually assaulted some seven girls between the ages of four months old and eight years old starting in 2014. Tilton reportedly photographed and filmed these incidents of sexual assault and distributed the videos on the dark web through the Tor network.
Tilton has also been accused of taking pornographic photos of a Navy comrade's 4-year-old daughter during a cookout. Also found in his possession were footage of his brutal rape of the 7-year-old daughter of a woman he met on a dating app.
Unremorseful, Tilton told investigators that he abused his first infant victim more than 300 times. He admitted that the first victim he assaulted was barely 6 months old.
One of the videos of his heinous abuses was reportedly viewed more than 100,000 times on the dark web. Tilton also spoke publicly about how much he enjoyed sexually assaulting minors in his dark web forums, according to the Department of Justice.
Investigators recovered an initial cache of 35 videos and 66 images of the child abuse that he perpetrated for several years until Tilton was finally arrested, prosecutors said. However, more than 8,000 videos and photos of infants and toddlers being sexually exploited have since been obtained from Tilton's possession.
U.S District Judge Meyer ordered Tilton to serve his sentence at the Federal Medical Center, Devens, which is a federal prison in eastern Massachusetts specifically for male inmates requiring specialized or long-term medical or mental health care. Tilton was also sentenced to pay more than $900,000 as reparation to his victims, New Hampshire Union Leader reported.
Over a time period of eight years, Tilton's sexual assault against minors spanned California, New Hampshire, and Connecticut.
A victim's mother reportedly described Tilton as “a vile, inhuman creature.”
“I don’t wish you death, but a long life full of pain,” another victim's parent said.
“I beg of you, your Honor, don’t ever let him out,” a mother of another victim said. “He belongs in the general (prison) population, and I understand what that would mean for him and I don’t care.”
