When you consider the price of education, you think of tuition, house and food costs. Rarely does one consider "virginity" to be a factor. But for a 21-year-old Chilean woman calling herself "Tamara," her virginity is the price she's willing to pay for an education.

The young woman posted her offer on Aconcagua VIP, a Chilean escort site, that she would sell her virginity so that she can get the money to pay off her education debt.

"Hi, I'm Tamara, I'm 21 years old and I'm selling my virginity because I have a big debt with the school and my family can't pay for it," reads the ad, as reported by Chilean newspaper La Estrella de Valparaíso. "I need money. If not, I wouldn't do this."

The advertisement includes six pictures of Tamara posing in her underwear and includes rules: She mandates the man use protection and she won't accept offers from couples, lesbians and men with fetishes.

The response to this woman's proposal has been mixed, to say the least.

"No, I don't judge her, but this is a situation that's made us realize the things people have to do to get by," said one individual in the comments. Other commenters questioned if she is, in fact, a virgin or was merely trying to score some cash. Another commenter mocked her by writing, "I have $200 in my pocket and a bag full of candy."

Unfortunately, Tamara isn't the first to try to auction off her virginity. In September of 2012, a Brazilian woman named Catarina Migliorini auctioned her virginity with a starting price of $155,000. A Japanese man won the auction by shelling out $780,000. Migliorini revealed that she wanted to raise the money to donate it to a charitable organization.

The contention behind this issue lies in one simple question: Is it legal for her to sell her virginity and does this qualify as prostitution. Most people agree that, by definition, Tamara's act would qualify as prostitution. But those that defend her can argue that it is her body and her choice. In fact, many people argue that if there is consent, there is no problem. That said, the act in itself is textbook prostitution.

Fortunately for Tamara, prostitution in Chile is legal and she will most likely not be facing any legal repercussions for her actions.
