Puerto Rican singer René Pérez, lead singer of Calle 13, was performing at the Vive Latino Festival in Mexico when a fan got on the stage, gave René a hug from behind and the singer punched the fan in the stomach. Later, after the concert, the press asked him the reason for him punching the fan and he said that the fan was choking him and he couldn’t breathe. This fan got on the stage while Residente was singing “El aguante” along with his sister PG-13. After the incident occurred he kept on singing as if nothing would have happened.

More than 70,000 fans were present and the got to listen to Calle 13’s hits as well as some of his new material. He sang some of his songs like “Fiesta de locos” , “Alguien como tú” and “Pal’ Norte” and some other songs from his recent album “Multi Viral.”

Calle 13 is known for bringing political messages to his concerts, no matter where they are. This was no different. Before interpreting a song called “Latinoamérica” Residente asked the fans present to turn on their phones or any object that could flash a light so that a picture could be taken that he said he would send to President of the United States Barack Obama to fight for the freedom of political prisoner Oscar López.
