Former US President Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law Lara Trump has expressed interest in running for a U.S. Senate seat.

During a recent interview with Sean Hannity, she said that she is "absolutely" considering a U.S. Senate run in North Carolina.

"Quick question. Exit question. Still considering a run for Senate, in North Carolina, your home state?" Hannity asked.

"Always your exit question, Sean. Yes, I am still considering it, absolutely," replied former US President Trump's daughter-in-law.

Lara is married to Eric Trump, the former president’s second son. There have been rumors that she will make a run for the North Carolina Senate seat that is currently being held by Richard Burr. Trump's recent comment on Lara further fueled speculation that she will run for a Senate seat.

During a fundraiser, the former President thanked his daughter-in-law, who was one of the organizers of the event meant to facilitate the rescue of dogs from China. "I want to thank Lara, who's been so incredible, I don't know, you're running for the Senate. I hear she's going to run for the Senate!" he said as seen in a video clip.

Lara has also been in news for complaining about how social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook “suppress the voices of conservatives."

While talking about a new social networking platform that the former President is rumored to be working on, Lara said, "He's taking it really seriously, and he wants a space where everyone can feel welcome, where people don't feel like, you know, the fact checkers are going to be all over them, even though these things are factual, oftentimes, that the fact checkers get on."

"I think it'll be really exciting to see this next phase for my father-in-law," she added.
