Why Camilla Was ‘Blamed’ For Prince William And Kate Middleton’s Second Breakup

Camilla Parker Bowles was once blamed for the fallout of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s relationship. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge broke up twice during their decade-long dating life.

In the documentary “Game Of Crowns,” royal author Christopher Anderson claimed that it was Camilla and Prince Charles who drove a wedge in Prince William and Kate’s relationship. He also said that he was in London when the Cambridges broke up.

“I have people telling me information about what’s going on behind the scenes — some on the record, some not — and I’ve always protected them, and they’ve been wonderful,” he said. “I was shocked, completely stunned, everyone thought it was only a matter of time before William was going to ask Kate to marry him. And then people started telling me that Camilla was behind it,” he added.

The royal author said that Camilla is an aristocrat, who also happens to be quite snobbish. Prince Charles’ wife also looked at herself as the heiress to her late great-grandmother, Alice Keppel.

“She was very proud of that connection, she boasted about that as a child and as an adult and that’s what she intended to be; part of the Royal circle in the role of mistress to the future king, and then the king,” Anderson said. “She did not look at Kate as someone who was worthy of joining the Royal Family. Kate is the first working-class woman to be accepted into the Royal Family. She is descended from coal miners and her mother was a flight attendant.”

As such, Camilla didn't think that Kate was the right partner for her stepson, Prince William. Anderson also said that he heard stories about Camilla whispering in her husband’s ear and asking Prince Charles to encourage his eldest son to make a decision about Kate.

Shortly after, Prince Charles reportedly asked the second in line to the throne to either commit to his girlfriend or let her go. The royal author said that the future king’s motivation for asking his son to make a decision was probably pure, but Camilla’s motivation wasn’t.

And in the end, the pressure became too much for Prince William and Kate. The couple decided to call it quits, but they got back together a few months later.
