Prince Charles is set to become the next king of England, but he will need the support of two important people to be successful. According to royal expert Rhiannon Mills, Prince William and Prince Harry should give their all-out support to their father if they want him to be the king that the British public needs him to be.

When Prince Charles becomes king, he and his two sons will serve as a unified front for the royal family. According to Mills, the trio working together is necessary so Prince Charles will be an effective king, just as Queen Elizabeth has always been an effective queen.

“In some ways, Prince Charles is just like any parent as they get older, they need the support of their children,” Mills said. “I think that applies to Prince Charles, he needs to see himself aligned with Prince William and Prince Harry. I think that will be a very powerful message, a united front for the royal family,” he added.

Queen Elizabeth has been preparing Prince Charles for his future role since he was a child. Given his age, however, many are wondering if Prince Charles will still be able to fulfill his royal duties when he reigns as the head of the monarchy.

Asked whether it is possible for Prince Charles to skip the role and let his Prince William take over when the Queen dies, Mills said no. “Not a chance, not a chance at all,” he said.

“Speaking to some of his team they have talked to me about how it is so frustrating when people say he will be a meddling monarch. They said to me when you are a monarch, you are expected to be, as heir he can’t just be, he has to do something,” he continued.

Mills somewhat finds it unfair when people criticize Prince Charles for being “meddling,” saying that it is only necessary to have his voice heard because he is going to be their next king. He also said that Prince Charles’ position is tough because if he stops meddling and does not do anything, people will still criticize him.

“So in some ways, I do feel a little bit of sympathy for Prince Charles over those 50 odd years deciding what his role should be,” he said.

Despite being one of the most unpopular members of the royal family, Prince Charles will be a successful king if both Prince William and Prince Harry will have his back and buttress him up. Mills believes that his two sons, who are both well loved by the public, will be key to Prince Charles’ success amid all the negative publicity about him.
