Princess Diana broke down in tears after introducing Prince William to the entire world hours following his birth. The revelation was included in Nigel Cawthorne’s book.

In “Call Me Diana: The Princess Of Wales On Herself,” the late Princess of Wales said that it was so difficult to walk outside of St. Mary’s Hospital’s Lindo Wing to introduce her newborn son to the public. Prince William was born on June 21, 1982.

“When I left the hospital, I could barely put one foot in front of the other,” she said. “My stitches were killing me. It was such a strain to stand there and smile even just for a few minutes. As soon as the car disappeared around the corner out of sight of the photographers, I burst into tears,” she added.

But despite the difficulty that Princess Diana faced after Prince William’s birth, the mom of two made the decision to do the same thing for Prince Harry. Two years later, the Duke of Sussex was introduced to the world just hours after he was born. The soon-to-be-dad was born at St. Mary’s Hospital’s Lindo Wing.

Meanwhile, Princess Diana’s emotional revelation could be one of the reasons why Meghan Markle and Prince Harry decided to keep their baby’s birth private until after they’ve enjoyed the milestone as a family. Earlier this month, Kensington Palace said that no photocall will take place immediately after the birth of Baby Sussex.

In fact, royal fans would only know the date when Baby Sussex was born, where the royal baby was born and other details weeks or months after its arrival. Earlier this year, Meghan told royal fans that she is scheduled to give birth sometime at the end of April or the beginning of May.

Unfortunately for Meghan and Prince Harry, their baby would not have the chance to meet its grandmother, Princess Diana. Prince William and Kate’s children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, were unable to meet their grandmother as well. However, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have made it a point to tell their children about their late grandmother.
