Princess Diana was looking forward to returning to London to be with her sons just before a fatal car crash in Paris took her life. In fact, she also told her former royal butler that she didn’t want to be in France at that time.

In the documentary “The Diana Story,” Paul Burrell shared details from his conversation with the Princess of Wales. Burrell asked Princess Diana when she would come home, and the late royal said that she would come home on Sunday.

“I’m just bored,” she said. “I am on this boat, it’s freezing cold downstairs, it’s boiling hot out. I need to come home. But the only way home is on the Harrods’ jet. The only way I can get home is via Paris because Dodi has to go to Paris to do some business for his father,” she added.

During the same conversation, Burrell asked Princess Diana how her relationship with Dodi Al Fayed was. The latter also died following the fatal car crash in Paris.

Princess Diana told Burrell that Al Fayed was such a spoiler. He gave the late royal a necklace, a pair of earrings and a watch. The revelation prompted Burrell to ask Princess Diana if she was aware of what was coming next. The “I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here” star was convinced that Al Fayed will propose to the Princess of Wales.

Following Princess Diana’s death, it was reported that she indeed had a ring on her finger. However, claims that Al Fayed gave Princess Diana an engagement ring after his proposal were proven to be incorrect.

There were also some rumors suggesting that Al Fayed proposed to Princess Diana because she was already 6 months pregnant. This claim was also proven to false.

Princess Diana passed away on Aug. 31, 1997, which means that her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, will be paying tribute to her on Saturday. According to reports, the Duke of Cambridge and the Duke of Sussex will visit Princess Diana’s grave in Althorp. Kate Middleton, Meghan Markle and their children are expected to visit Princess Diana’s grave as well.
