A man, who is settled in Canada, allegedly sought sexual pleasure through video calls, but when his wife, based in Gujarat, refused his demand, she got thrashed by her in-laws.

Last weekend, the 30-year-old woman from Gota, Ahmedabad in India filed a complaint in which she stated that she had met the accused through a matrimonial company and got married on Aug. 21 last year, reported The Times Of India.

She claimed that soon after their wedding, he started coming home late in a drunken state. He allegedly drank and harassed her and without informing her, he flew to Canada on Aug. 25, 2020. According to her complaint, “When he reached there, he began sending me obscene messages and demanded sex chat on cellphone." She wasn't comfortable with it, so she used to deny it. She said that whenever she did not agree to have sex chat with him, he used to abuse her on phone.

He apparently made obscene demands as well telling her to undress in front of the phone camera. She said, "As I refused, he used to provoke my in-laws who used to beat me." Her in-laws allegedly decided not to allow her to talk with her husband and snatched her phone.

Apart from physical assault, the woman alleged that her in-laws demanded money and gold in dowry from her, and used to taunt her for not getting enough dowry after marriage. When she told her husband to take her to Canada with him, he turned down her demand and told her that he wanted a divorce.

The woman left her in-laws home and went to her parents’ place on Oct. 17, 2020,and tried to find a solution. But her husband and in-laws abandoned her, so she filed a complaint of domestic violence against them.

In a separate case, a man, his parents and other family members brutally beat up a 26-year-old woman in Ludhiana, Punjab, according to Hindustan Times. The victim, Karamjit Kaur, was recently taken to a hospital, while her husband Mintoo Singh, mother-in-law Gurdeep Kaur, father-in-law Bikkar Singh and two relatives Gurjit Kaur and Baljinder Singh were arrested.

The victim, who had married Mintoo on Nov. 17, 2018, said that her family turned violent as she returned from her parents house later than planned. She claimed that following her marriage, her in-laws and husband harassed her for dowry and asked that her family “gift” them an SUV.
