A woman reportedly killed herself after finding out that her husband is married to another woman in Marathahalli, Bengaluru, India on Tuesday, Sept. 27.

The victim, identified as 24-year-old Gouthami, reportedly fell in love with Reddy Prasad after she finished her graduation and started working at a private company in Punganur of Andhra Pradesh, India. However, when Goutami’s father objected to their wedding, the couple eloped and got married in March earlier this year, the Times Of India reported.

Even though Gouthami's father filed a missing case after she eloped with Prasad, she appeared before the police and informed about her marriage and the couple later moved to Bengaluru.

However, after getting married to Prasad, Gouthami slowly found out that her husband Prasad was already married to a woman called Ayusha Banu and complained about her discovery to her father. She also found out that both Prasad and Banu even had a baby together. Gouthami told her father that he never informed her about his relationship before the wedding.

Following the discovery that she was her husband's second wife, Gouthami reportedly felt upset and cheated. She then hanged herself from the ceiling of her rental house at Kaveri Layout in Marathahalli on Tuesday, Sept. 27 at around 4 a.m. and committed suicide, Hindustan Times reported.

Her husband Prasad found Gouthami's body hanging from the ceiling when he woke up early in the morning. Following the tragic incident, Marathahalli police booked Prasad and his first wife Ayusha Banu, based on a complaint filed by Gouthami's father.

According to the complaint filed by Gouthami's father, Banu and Prasad had also allegedly abused and harassed Gouthami before the incident.

An investigation into the matter is underway.

In a similar but unrelated incident, a woman allegedly killed herself after her husband pranked her saying that he married another woman in Sialkot, a city in North-East Punjab, Pakistan, Latin Times reported.

The husband, Ramzan, reportedly set out to trick his wife, identified as Fauzia, by saying that he had remarried a middle-eastern woman in Dubai. Fauzia, who was left shocked after hearing this, immediately hung up the call. After their call ended, a distressed Fauzia reportedly started sending him a number of alarming video messages.

However, when her husband did not respond to any of the messages, Fauzia took the drastic decision of taking her own life as she "didn’t want to share him with anyone," the woman said in one of the video clips she sent. She then committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan inside her home.
