The execution of a woman while she was traveling in a microbus in Iztapalapa yesterday afternoon was "a direct aggression" against her in revenge for a triple femicide committed by one of her brothers in March 2021 in the Atlampa neighborhood, Cuauhtémoc municipality, said the Secretary of Citizen Security, Omar García Harfuch.

The police chief clarified that this information was given by the two detainees in their first statements. Both were captured by police after a chase on the Ermita Iztapalapa highway yesterday afternoon.

According to initial reports, the assassins were riding a motorcycle and were following the woman who boarded the minibus. Suddenly, at the height of Eje 5 Sur, they blocked the way to the bus, one of them got on, pulled out a gun, and shot her at least five times. The body was left sitting on the side of the window.

The murderer got on the motorcycle and, with the co-pilot, tried to flee, but SSC police chased them and when they stopped them, they found a firearm and the motorcycle. The vehicle has a theft report.

According to the head of the SSC, they have no information that the executed woman had a criminal record. What they do know is that, before being shot, she went to visit her brothers in prison.
