It never is easy for those first timers who catch World Cup fever. It is the dreaded first day off. And then a second for this Qatar winter version. After 17 straight days and 56 matches, only eight teams remain and move on to the quarterfinals on Friday and Saturday. But in meantime, there are two days with no action.

Here is how social media is reacting to No World Cup.

Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo has a new role as a sub on the bench. Will that change on Saturday when Portugal play surprising Morocco?

Depression and despair abound.

It is back to the normal daily routine.

Grown men are known to cry...

And women too...

For some, like Belgium, there is no World Cup for another four years. And a Belgian golden generation that will not take home the trophy.

Or Spain, bounced on penalty kicks by Morocco.

It is a desolate scene of despair for two days. Even for 'Pablo Escobar.'
