A 23-year-old engineering student reportedly killed himself due to a decline in patronage for his Youtube channel.

C Dheena, a student of the Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management (IIITM) Gwalior, was found dead near his apartment complex at Saidabad, Telangana, on Thursday morning, July 21.

The building watchman said he rushed to the spot after hearing a loud thud and found the student lying unresponsive in a pool of blood, the Times of India (TOI) reports.

Dheena was pronounced dead at the scene. The body was then sent to the medical examiner’s office for an autopsy, police said.

A preliminary investigation revealed the young man jumped to death from the third-floor terrace of his apartment complex.

Before ending his life, Dheena reportedly posted a suicide note on his YouTube channel SELFLO, which he had been operating since 2018. The gaming video channel has 709 uploads and 29.8k subscribers.

In the video posted, about 8 hours before his death, Dheen made statements about being depressed over declining subscribers, and loneliness, and blamed his parents for failing to guide him, police said. The video has since been removed from YouTube.

"Both his parents are working. Around 8.30 pm on Wednesday, July 20, his mother returned home after office and found him sleeping in his room. She did not want to disturb him and later his parents slept too," Saidabad sub-inspector L Ravi Kumar told TOI.

A case has been registered under Section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) for suspicious death and a further probe is underway.

In another incident, a 15-year-old Indian boy allegedly killed himself after his mother failed to find time to buy him a new school uniform.

The teen reportedly left behind a suicide note in which he said he was giving his mother the "best gift" on her birthday, police said.

The teenager, who has not been publicly identified, hanged himself in his house in Behror, Rajasthan after his mother, a government teacher, left for work on Friday, July 15.

Neighbors said the 10th grader was asking his mother to buy him a new uniform but the working mother was not able to manage time to take her son shopping.

When he reminded her about the uniform on Friday morning, the mother reportedly scolded the boy as she was getting late for school, police said as reported by The Indian Express.

The teen was upset over his mother’s response and decided to take the extreme step as a birthday gift to her.

"Now you will never be late for school. The best gift in the world. Happy Birthday, Mummy Ji," the boy purportedly wrote in a register before taking his life.

When the mother returned home from work, she found the boy hanging dead from a ceiling fan in the bedroom.
