Alexa and Carlos PenaVega told fans that doctors removed a portion of their 2-year-old son's finger. The good news is that the child, Kingston, is doing well like nothing happened.

Heavy.com said Alexa, a mother of three, apologized that the family had been missing on social media for a moment. She explained that they had to undergo the "most traumatic thing" the family has ever faced yet.

"While getting the kids ready for bed, I shut Kingston's fingers in the hinge of the bathroom door," she wrote per People. PenaVega said she injured Kingston's first finger in a bloody outcome. However, the child's middle finger received most of the blow and severed near the tip from the first knuckle.

PenaVega and her husband Carlos have two other children, Just Jared said. They named their children Ocean, 4, and Rio, 5 months. In June, she revealed that she and her husband "don't have any help" raising their three children.

“There are days that I definitely wish I did,” the actress wrote via Instagram Stories at the time (per US Magazine).

After the latest tragic incident, PenaVega said the little man is "already doing backflips like nothing happened. She credited her faith for helping her overcome emotions of shame and remorse.

"The mom guilt and shame was really hard to get through," PenaVega wrote. According to E! Online, the actress praised Carlos for being tremendous and swooped in like Superman to protect our family. It took a minute for them all to understand what had transpired, according to PenaVega.

PenaVega gave a sorrowful update in his final post. Doctors couldn't reattach the chunk of his finger, she claimed. "But the other [nine] are so cute! He'll be more than fine!"

Then, on Wednesday evening, Alexa and Carlos addressed fans in an Instagram post regarding Kingston's injury. The father lauded Kingston for being a champion and acted like he never had the accident.

Carlos remarked in the clip that they came together as a family like no other after recounting the terrifying occurrence. The recent tragedy, according to the family, has brought home how much they adore their children.

According to Carlos, Ocean somewhat freaked out. However, they all got into the car and rushed into the hospital. He noted that everyone gathered like a family, which they found cool.
