Seth MacFarlane will soon be walking a fine line between dark humor and cultural sensitivity with his upcoming animated series "Bordertown." Fox announced on Friday that it had ordered 13 episodes of MacFarlane's upcoming show. The news hasn't sit well with critics and the general public who believe the show will only perpetuate cultural stereotypes with offensive jokes. Since the show has been announced, tons of skepticism has been unleashed. Connor Simpson wrote for the Atlantic, "Oh no. MacFarlane's not known for his racial sensitivity. In fact, his new show, Dads, which Fox picked up for a full season, was questioned initially because some scenes were deemed 'too racist'."

While Latino Rebels wrote in a post Tuesday, "Great, just great. What the world really needs. An immigration humor cartoon by a privileged white guy who will probably think this is all witty." The skepticism is well placed and deserved. If anyone is familiar with any work by Seth MacFarlane then you know his series and films push boundaries. Just look at "Family Guy," it's a show about a middle class New England family that pokes fun at rape, violence, racism and a plethora of offensive material as well as "American Dad!" and "Ted," which was about an alcoholic over sexual teddy bear. Just imagine what MacFarlane can do with immigration and border control issues.

Although the show has seen its share of backlash before it has even started there was a bit of good news that has shined through. Since Chicano artist Lalo Alcaraz has been enlisted to write for "Bordertown," the latino community has warmed up to the idea of the show. Atchka! tweeted, "The fact that @laloalcaraz is one of four Latino writers involved gives me hope it won't just be a brown-skinned Family Guy." While Cuentame tweeted, "We feel better knowing @laloalcaraz is on @fox BorderTown - We think he needs deserves lot of input and sway in this! http://t.co/N2Db26wYZ7" And Vertov tweeted, "@laloalcaraz @JoseArielCuevas @tfss @SethMacFarlane having actual Latinos involved makes me hopeful for Borderlands. Much luck to you all!"

Do you think having Latino writers for "Bordertown" will make the show worthwhile and a legitimized series to watch or do you think the new MacFarlane series will be another stereotypical low brow humor TV show?
