Brad Pitt And Angelina Jolie’s Rocky Marriage Worsened After They Did This

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie fell in love while filming “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” in 2005 while the former was still married to Jennifer Aniston. They seemed to be the picture-perfect happily married couple until Jolie dropped the bombshell by filing for divorce in 2016.

Many just can’t figure out what went wrong with “Brangelina,” the coined term used to refer to Pitt and Jolie. It didn’t help at all that both actors were extremely private and didn’t divulge the details that led to their separation.

While fans might never know the real reason that led to their divorce, Jolie hinted at a turning point in her relationship with Pitt, according to Her Moments. It was during the filming of “By The Sea,” a 2015 movie starred and produced by both Pitt and Jolie, that the latter made a last-ditch effort to fix their failing marriage.

Jolie’s reasoning at that time was that they met and fell in love while filming a movie and working on another movie might be the key to working out their differences this time. “We had met working together and we worked together well,” Jolie said. “I thought it would be a good way for us to communicate.”

Unfortunately, the critics were not too gentle when they reviewed “By The Sea.” While they generally admired Jolie and Pitt’s aesthetic appeal and called them “dazzlingly gorgeous,” they were not impressed by their performance on the film and even described their acting as “empty.”

As far as Jolie is concerned, that was perhaps the tipping point of her marriage to Pitt as it seemed that everything went downhill from there. “There was a heaviness probably during that situation that carried on and it wasn’t because of the film,” the “Maleficent” actress said.

Of course she also acknowledged that there were a few other factors, such as her health issues, that might have added strain to their relationship. “I did have my mastectomy, and I did then have an ovarian cancer scare and have that surgery as well,” she said.

“By The Sea” indeed helped the ex-couple to communicate, but it didn’t go in the direction Jolie was hoping for. While fans might never know what they “communicated to each other,” the fact remains that they eventually decided to split in 2016, a year after the film’s release.

“A piece of art can be something that’s healing or something that’s difficult,” was Jolie’s cryptic comment on the issue. “We did communicate something that needed to be communicated to each other.”

Aside from trying to test their marriage by working together on a film, Nicki Swift offered a few other possible factors that might have contributed to the failure of their relationship. According to the publication, Pitt and Jolie’s relationship was built on a faulty foundation as it started with one partner cheating on his wife.

There was too much media scrutiny on them, especially when Jennifer Aniston was thrown into the love triangle storyline. Nicki Swift also reported that they basically have very different priorities in life and also disagreed on how to raise their six kids.
