Adam Rodriguez will be joining the cast of “Criminal Minds” in season 12, CBS announced on Wednesday.

“We’re thrilled to introduce a new special agent by adding the very talented Adam Rodriguez to our amazing cast,” executive producer and showrunner Erica Messer said in a statement. “We have exciting storylines planned for his character and the entire BAU team as we head into our 12th season.”

The president of CBS Entertainment, Glenn Geller, welcomed the “Magic Mike XXL” star back to the network’s family and confessed he is also a big fan of the actor’s work.

“We’re all big fans of Adam’s and are excited to welcome him back to the CBS family as part of the terrific cast of ‘Criminal Minds,” he said.

The news come after original cast member, Shemar Moore, revealed he was leaving the show back in March. Moore starred in the CBS series for 11 years.

“No one likes to say goodbye and I’m going to miss looking at his pretty face every day, A.J. Cook said of Moore’s departure.

On Thursday, Rodriguez shared the thrilling news with his fans on social media.

“Just wanted to say how happy I am to be joining the cast of this great show!” he wrote on Facebook. “I look forward to working with the family of people involved in making this such a long standing hit and to entertaining all of the wonderful fans that have made it possible!”

Besides his unforgettable role as a male stripper in the “Magic Mike” series, the 41-year-old actor has also appeared in hit shows such as “CSI: Miami,” “Jane The Virgin” and “Empire.”
