“Criminal Minds” Season 15 release date is one of the highly anticipated events for fans of CBS’ police procedural crime drama. Thankfully, the network has officially announced when the final season will return to the small screen and, for eager fans, here are some of the details known so far.

‘Criminal Minds’ Season 15 Release Date And Number Of Episodes

CBS announced that the final season will arrive on Jan. 8, 2019, according to a report by Pop Culture. The show will occupy the network’s 8 at 9 p.m. ET timeslot.

Unfortunately, the final season of “Criminal Minds” will be a short one. Unlike previous seasons that have more than 20 episodes, save for the 15-episode fourteenth season, the upcoming final run will only have a total of 10 episodes.

Given the fewer number of episodes this time, the show will finally end the following month. Fans can look forward to a two-hour series finale, which is scheduled to air on Feb. 19.

Plot Will Revolve Around This Super Villain

Previously, executive producer/showrunner Erica Messer gave a few details giving fans a glimpse of what the plot could be in the final season. According to the EP, the team will be up against a “worthy adversary.”

“Will be up against another formidable villain and will be concluding the 10 episodes with a showdown with that person,” Messer teased as reported by Deadline.

Fortunately, enough details have already been revealed making it possible to identify who this supervillain is. “Overall, I'd say [Season] 15 has more of an arc through the episodes than previous seasons,” actor Daniel Henney revealed, according to Marie Claire. “Our unsub, Chameleon, is played by Michael Mosely, and he's definitely into some gruesome, creepy stuff.”

A New Love For Reid

Reid will also have a new love interest in the upcoming season. While it was revealed in the previous season that JJ was in love with Reid, it’s unfortunate that she already has a husband.

Thankfully, there’s a new girl in town that might just spice up Reid’s love life in the final season. It was announced that Rachael Leigh Cook will play a new character, Max, which will become his new love interest, according to TV Line.

Returning Cast Members

Long-time fans of the series would likewise be pleased to know that most of the “Criminal Minds” cast members will be returning for the show’s final season. These include Matthew Gray Gubler, A.J. Cook, Paget Brewster, Daniel Henney, Adam Rodrigues, Aisha Tyler, Joe Mantegna, and Kirsten Vangsness, according to Cheat Sheet.
