Real Madrid may be in the hunt for three titles this season and while continued success on multiple levels continues to follow the club, recent news that the squads top talent could miss the next few matches certainly came as a blow to all those involved. Set to participate in the UEFA Champions League semifinals and Copa del Rey final while also wrapping up play in the Spanish Primera Division, Los Blancos higher-ups learned this week that 2013 Ballon d’Or Award winner Cristiano Ronaldo could miss the UCL and CDR matches due to lingering health issues.

While CR7 continues to be bothered by an existing knee problem, recent medical tests showed the 29-year-old is also dealing with a thigh strain. The international superstar was shelved in last week’s La Liga triumph over Real Sociedad due to his knee tendonitis problem, with the Portuguese national also sitting out Real’s recent second leg defeat to Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League. Due to the severity of the injuries, AS English is reporting that Ronaldo is now facing 15 days on the sideline and if this report holds true, the prominent goal-scorer would be absent from the upcoming UCL Semifinals and the April 16 Copa del Rey title against Barcelona.

Though he’s hoping to recover in time from these injuries, Ronaldo won’t be placed in harm’s way moving forward. With the two setbacks continuing to pose problems, Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti said recently that he’s optimistic his star player will be ready to go this weekend against La Liga rival Almeria, despite what multiple reports indicate. “He wasn’t okay,” Ancelotti said regarding CR7’s health for the recent UCL quarterfinal against BVB. "We decided not to take any risks. We’re hoping he recovers well and is ready for the semifinals. It isn’t a major problem but it was a risk with such a big game. He’ll have time to recover well and play. I think he’ll be able to play on Saturday.”

Real Madrid will meet Almeria on Saturday, April 12 at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu before matching up against rival Barcelona in the 2013-2014 Copa del Rey final. Despite not knowing who their semifinal opponent will be, Los Blancos will also prepare to begin their UEFA Champions League final four on either April 22 or April 23.
