A court in Wales heard that a bisexual psychiatrist was “beaten, tortured and left for dead” by at least three attackers, including a girl as young as 16, while he was looking for gay sex in a park near Cardiff Castle following the fallout of his marriage last year.

The suspects, Jason Edwards, 25; Lee William Strickland, 36; and the unidentified underage girl, now 17, have since pleaded guilty to manslaughter, robbery, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. However, they deny murdering the victim on July 20 last year, the Daily Mail reported.

On Tuesday, the court was told the trio were “in search of vulnerable gay men in the park for sex” to rob and later agreed to target Dr. Gary Jenkins, 54, a father of two, in the early hours of the morning in Bute Park, Cardiff.

“Motivated by greed, homophobia and straight-up violence,” they proceeded to snatch Jenkins’ bag and carry out the torture for at least 15 minutes, leaving him with horrific injuries, according to Pinkvilla.

Dafydd Enoch, prosecuting, said that Edwards repeatedly encouraged his group to “stamp on his head ”during the assault. At one point, the victim was heard pleading for his life before he was beaten unconscious.

Police officers who rushed to the scene would note that Jenkins’ trousers had been pulled down by the attackers, leaving him in a humiliating state, Enoch said.

Life-saving measures were conducted by first responders, quickly transporting the victim to the University Hospital of Wales. However, Jenkins succumbed to an unsurvivable brain injury 16 days later.

On Wednesday, the court was played CCTV footage from the Summerhouse Cafe in Bute Park, which captured the audio of the incident just before 1 in the morning.

In the clip, Strickland was heard repeatedly telling his assailants to leave him alone and “get off me” while asking for help from passersby, Wales Online noted.

Passer-by Louis Williams, who spotted Jenkins on the floor being kicked, the teenage girl attacker as”'f***ing evil” and “sadistic,” noting the defendants were laughing during the homophobic abuse. Williams came to the victim’s aid and had apparently been assaulted by the trio as well.

The case continues to be heard in front of Judge Daniel Williams, expected to last four weeks.
