A devastated father hanged himself to death shortly after performing the last rites of his 19-year-old son, who filmed his suicide on an Instagram reel.

On Monday, July 11, the teen, identified as Devisingh from Ongana in India’s Udaipur, made an Insta reel, in which he was seen crying and consuming some poisonous substance, according to local media reports.

The boy’s brother saw the video and immediately alerted the people of the village, who then rushed the teen to a nearby hospital. The boy was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The body was sent to a medical examiner’s office where an autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death. The circumstances that forced the teen to take the extreme step also remain unclear at this time.

Devastated by the sudden death of his son, Devisingh's elderly father, 61-year-old Kalusinh killed himself by hanging at their home just hours after performing the boy’s last rites.

No suicide note was recovered from the scene, reports said.

A further probe is underway.

In a similar incident, a Virginia dad shot himself dead after discovering his 18-month-old son dead in the backseat of a hot car, according to police.

The unidentified dad had left his baby in the hot car for up to three hours while he was at work. By the time he realized his horrific mistake and returned to check on his son, the baby had died, reports said.

He then rushed back to his home in the 14100 block of Aldengate Road, carried the child inside, went out through the back door alone, and shot himself in a nearby wooded area, according to reports. He was 37.

"This is a horrible tragedy on so many levels, and our hearts go out to the family and friends that are going to deal with this," Lieutenant Colonel Chris Hensley with the Chesterfield Police Department said.

"This happens almost every year and all we can do is try and take a negative event like this and turn it into a positive so that people take that moment, learn and pause," he added.
