Hosts on Fox News' The Five criticized the new Superman movie and its director's interpretation of its hero as an immigrant, prompting co-host Jesse Watters to joke that the "S" on Superman's cape has been replaced with "MS-13."

Jessica Tarlov, the show's liberal co-host, read director James Gunn's quote framing Superman as an immigrant who represents America's story. Her colleagues made it clear that the director's perspective did not resonate with them.

"It's a terrible analogy," host Greg Gutfeld said. "With Superman, they are sending your best, you know?" Gutfeld's response echoed a frequent talking point from President Donald Trump — that other countries send "their worst" to America.
Kellyanne Conway criticized Gunn further, accusing the director of refusing to say Superman's traditional slogan, "truth, justice and the American way," allegedly opting instead for "truth, justice and all of those good things."
"We don't go to the movie theater to be lectured to and to have somebody throw their ideology on to us," Conway said, questioning whether the movie would be successful.
Jesse Watters ended the segment with a quip. "You know what it says on his cape?" he asked, smirking. "MS-13."
Tarlov was quick to shoot back. "Was it super-imposed, or it actually says that?" she joked pointedly, referencing accusations regarding tattoos on the knuckles of Kilmar Abrego-Garcia, the Maryland man sent to an El Salvador prison by mistake.
The latest film in DC's Superman franchise will hit theaters July 11. Whether viewers will share The Five's disapproval of the contemporary Superman as "superwoke" remains to be seen.
