An underage gang rape victim has allegedly taken her own life after the families of her alleged assailants pressured her into a settlement in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, India on Tuesday, Aug. 23.

The unnamed 16-year-old minor was reportedly gang raped by a group of men identified only as Viresh, Jinesh, Suvendra, and Bipin in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh. Local law enforcement quickly responded to the scene after the victim's family found her body. Her remains have been sent to the coroner's office for an autopsy.

Following the girl's suicide, the three suspects, Jinesh, Suvendra, and Bipin, have allegedly gone into hiding. Meanwhile, the Superintendent of Police Chakresh Mishra revealed that a special team has been deployed to nab the three accused, News18 reported.
