The GTA 5 release date is confirmed for September 17 and the Microsoft Store is offering 1600 pts on Xbox Live for free if gamers pre-order now, an attractive promotion worth $19.99. A highly anticipated game, the only thing better than driving a car is driving a car that isn't yours.
For GTA 5, Rockstar Games will throw gamers into the most immersive sandbox environment yet. Pulling out all the stops, Rockstar developers create a fictional city known as Los Santos, loosely based on the cities of Southern California. Rockstar claims that its new open world map will be so vast that it will dwarve "Red Dead Redemption," "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas," and "Grand Theft Auto IV" combined.
The GTA 5 story arc will support three key protagonists.
First, Michael is an older man that once made his fortune as a gangster. Now retired and withdrawn from a life of crime, he now works with the feds and is protected under witness protection. Next, GTA 5 will introduce Franklin, a repo man that works an Armenian-owned luxury car dealership. The third and final protagonist is Trevor, a maniac with a short fuse, Trevor gives GTA 5 a dose of crazy to take the game over the edge.
Earlier this week, rumors stirred controversy when reports from Auto-oMobile suggest the Grand Theft Auto game will not be available until 2014.
"Microsoft has gone ahead and announced a special deal for those who pre-order GTA 5 for the Xbox 360...
...Microsoft states the deal is only in limited supply so you should order quick. However in the terms and conditions, they put the GTA 5 pre-order window as ending on December 31st 2013.
So the obvious question is how does the offer end on Dec. 31, 2013 if GTA 5 is due out on September 17, and you're supposed to pre-order? Is there the possibility that the GTA 5 release date is being pushed back to the Christmas holidays? And if so does this apply to the Xbox 360 version only?"
Thankfully, the listing was an obvious mistake that was eventually corrected. The exclusive Xbox Live offer from the Microsoft Store now ends on September 16, 2013.
This isn't the first time the media reported a GTA 5 release date delay. Initially slated for a Summer 2013 release, Rockster issued the following apology in January 2013 in regards to an adjusted September 17 GTA 5 release date:
"Hey all, we understand many of you guys are disappointed with this news - unfortunately sometimes such delays are necessary in all forms of entertainment, and especially in the case of a game experience as massive and complex as GTAV...To those of you saying or seeing various conspiracy theories about there being some other ulterior motive for this delay, rest assured that they're all nonsense - literally the only reason we've delayed the release is because we want the game to be as good as it needs to be..."
