The U.K.-based charity of Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex is reportedly being liquidated as of Tuesday to fully shut down the company, as many continue to speculate that Prince Harry and Meghan are continuing to cut ties from the country.

MWX Trading, which was formerly named Sussex Royal before being changed to its current name after the couple agreed to not use the term “royal” in their current branding, is reportedly undergoing liquidation based on documents submitted to Companies House, according to the Independent.

The “MWX” in the name was believed to have stood for “Markle Windsor Sussex” or “Mountbatten Windsor Sussex,” though the official meaning of the name was not revealed by the couple during the name change, the Daily Mail reported.

Over hundreds of thousands of dollars are reportedly being spent by the couple to hire the liquidators to close down the charity, with a surplus from the closure of the company going to Travalyst Ltd., the couple’s eco-travel company.

“Time costs exceeded the estimate due to the communications with the Charity Commission, the current and former trustees and various discussions, [inquiries] with third parties and protracted correspondence with HMRC to obtain tax clearance . . . additional costs have been met by a third party,” notes from the liquidation document said.

“In accordance with the terms of the grant agreement, we receive income and expenditure reports on the use of the grants funds to show they are [utilized] in accordance with the charity’s objects.”

Sussex Royal was first created in 2019 after Prince Harry and Meghan split with the foundation that was co-run by Prince William and Kate Middleton. Since splitting with the monarchy in 2020, Harry and Meghan have opened their own charity in the United States called Archewell.

The couple has yet to comment with regard to the dissolution of the charity, although many believe that the action continues the pattern of the couple’s split from the United Kingdom.
