A Florida man has been arrested on multiple criminal charges after he reportedly threatened his brother with a knife, saying that he was “going to cut the ‘gay’ out of” his sibling on Wednesday, Feb. 23.

On Thursday, Feb. 24, officers of the Miami-Dade Police Department responded to a 911 call reporting a “violent dispute” that took place at a Miami residence between David Martinez, 40, and his brother. Martinez's sibling told the officers that the suspect had been acting strange since the previous night and “threatened him while sharpening a large kitchen knife, telling him he was going to cut the ‘gay’ out of him,” the Smoking Gun reported.

According to the police, Martinez also threatened his brother that he was going to kill him. When the brother got scared and tried to leave the residence, Martinez “followed him out, grabbed him, and told him to get back in the house.” In fear, the victim returned back into the home. However, eventually, he managed to leave the house and called a friend to get help from the police.

When officers arrived at the address, Martinez “became irate” and remained uncooperative with the authorities. The police then called for backup and waited until other units arrived to take Martinez into custody. The officers also seized the suspect's knife from the premises, WPLG Local 10 News reported.

Martinez was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping, and false imprisonment, and was also charged with two misdemeanor resisting counts. He is currently being held in the county jail on a $22,000 bond.

In a similar but unrelated incident, a homophobic son has been arrested for allegedly stabbing his father to death in an apparent honor killing for "tarnishing the reputation" of his family by engaging in a same-sex relationship in the Khatauli area of Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, India, Latin Times reported.

The father, identified as Reshpal, was found dead in a sugarcane field on Aug. 18, 2021, after he was brutally murdered by his own son Sumit Kumar who condemned his decision to engage in a same-sex relationship.

After committing the crime, Kumar initially tried to frame three other people for the murder by filing a case against them, alleging that they had ganged up to kill his father.
However, when the investigating officers looked into the incident, they found reason to believe that it was Kumar himself who murdered his father over the patriarch's sexual preferences.

Kumar later admitted to the police that he was upset when he came to know that his father expressed plans to transfer his property to the man he was in a relationship with.
