Putting forth another strong defensive showing once again, Honduras held Trinidad off the board in the first half and although they allowed their opponents to fire off a total of 9 shots throughout the 45 minute period - including 4 to the always dangerous Kenwyne Jones - the Honduras looked poised for a strong second half showing.

While Honduras was playing their own brand of lock-down defense, the Soca Warriors only allowed the Group B leaders to reel off 3 shot attempts. Of the opportunities from Mario Berrios, Alex Lopez and Wilmer Fuentes, only 1 shot found it's way toward Trinidad keeper Jan Jan Williams, giving the last place team in Group B a chance to compete in the second frame.

Kenwyne Jones remained active on the offensive end throughout the second half and the star scored was finally rewarded for his workload in the 48th minute.

Converting a right-footed penalty shot to put Trinidad up 1-0, the Soca Warriors were able to strike first in a match they had to have. When a Kevin Molino shot found its way to the back of the net, Trinidad and Tobago took control of the match and never relinquished the lead.

With the victory, Trinidad and Tobago advanced to the quarterfinals, making them the third team from the competitve Group B to move on along with Honduras and El Salvador.
