Ellen and Duncan conference in the "Hostages" season finale. The episode entitled, "End Game" mostly revolves around the pair attempting to make their life plans for after the surgery. CBS

“Hostages” was poised to be CBS’ answer to “The Blacklist” although the 15-episode thriller left much to be desired. Although for those of you who are being held hostage by “Hostages” lucky for you tonight is a night for redemption. The series is wrapping up its first and most likely only season of its limited run with not one episode but two! The “Hostages” season finale will provide fans with two hours of action packed excitement starting at 9pm, and the story promises to finally wrap up the forever growing tension between the Sanders family, and their captor Duncan. If you haven’t watched the whole season, “Hostages” followed Dr. Ellen Sanders, portrayed by Toni Collette and former FBI Agent, Duncan Carlisle, played by Dylan McDermott. Duncan, held her family and herself hostage, hence the name of the series, until she finally relented and agreed to kill the President of the United States when surgery. Dr. Sanders agreed to save her husband and kids, and the audience soon learned that Duncan’s seemingly evil intent was actually all about his family as well. In the last episode, we watched as Duncan carried out the actions in order to save the life of his dying wife, not only for himself, but for their young daughter.

Instead of fighting against each other, the pair joined together to make a beneficial plan for everyone including the President of the United States. In this Duncan-Sanders hatched plan, Ellen does not kill President Kincaid in surgery, the Sanders family lives, and Duncan’s ailing wife gets her much needed bone marrow transplant. But while the families are no working together, they still have a lot of enemies at large. First off, lets us not forget about Sandrine who also has a stake in this assassination plot, she will stop at nothing to protect her young son. In addition to the henchwoman, Colonel Blair is still a force to be reckoned with. But luckily for fans of the series, all the mysterious loose ends will be tied up, this 2-hour season finale will not have any cliff hangers. According to TVLine, “Hostages” executive producer Rick Eid designed the show to be completely wrapped dup by the end, “We hope that the last episode will feel like the final chapter of a 15-chapter novel.”

So things will be wrapped up in the second hour, but prepare for serious action in the first hour of the finale. The Sanders family, unfortunately is utterly threatened and the escape plan may be shot after a changing of alliances. The last hour, however, is thrilling to say the least. Ellen finally heads into surgery with President Kincaid, but not before a fateful run in with the First Lady. To pull of the plan, the Sanders family, Duncan and his crew will all have to work perfectly together, although allegiances can shift and of course a lot of this plan relies on the steady hands of Ellen. So will they make it? Well you will just have to see, but one thing that we do know is that despite the conclusions, Ellen and Brian will not be taking a happily ever after vacation together, and the best surprise of all a main character does in fact die!
