The release date for “How To Get Away With Murder” Season 6 hasn’t been announced yet, but the renewal of the drama TV series was confirmed earlier in May. The ABC show revolves around the lives of the legendary defence attorney and law school professor Annalise Keating and her interns — and how they all try to get away with murder. After five seasons of the group’s scheming and cover-ups, fans ask: what lies in store for the sixth installment?

[WARNING: HTGAWM SEASON 5 SPOILERS AHEAD!!!]

The finale of “How To Get Away With Murder” Season 5 left a cliffhanger for viewers when it aired on Feb. 28. In the final scenes, Laurel Castillo and her baby vanished from behind Annalise. The scene then shows Emmet Crawford on the floor, presumably poisoned and dead.

Fans have been discussing and giving theories as to what the season finale means for the future of the series and what will happen as Season 6 progresses. Speculations have been thrown around, but the centerpiece seems to be about Laurel being the mastermind of it all.

Her disappearance is claimed to be all within her master plan as it has been shown how she keeps trying to get rid of her family. By the end of the season, her family and the Keating squad seem to be too preoccupied in giving her time to disappear.

“How To Get Away With Murder” Season 6 will have this disappearance as the crux, but another question being thrown is: who dies next? Every season opens with a flashforward of a death, and fans have been pointing to none other than Tegan. She has played a major role since her introduction into the show, and using her death as a major key point will give the sixth installment a very suspense-filled start.

The main antagonists for the upcoming season are predicted to definitely be the governor and the FBI. With Governor Birkhead’s admission of her part in the Nate Sr. murder and the FBI rolling into the fray, the tension is bound to circle from the attack of these two parties on Annalise.

Peter Nowalk, the hit series’ creator, also released some points of interest for the upcoming season: highlighting Laurel’s disappearance and the supposed Michaela arc brought about by the mention of her father. The most important piece, however, is that Nowalk has already revealed that he knows how the story will end and that it is supposedly “great.”

A significant theory to look into might be the FBI’s murder board for “Operation Bonfire” with Annalise at the center. This seems to be a homage to the death of Sam Keating way back in Season 1, and its appearance might signify that the FBI has linked all the murders in the previous seasons back to Annalise.

This would provide a perfect wrap-up of the series and its plot, finally ending with someone not being able to get away with murder. Yes, the series may come to its end as Season 6 may, after all, be the end of the line for Annalise and the Keating murder squad.

ABC announced the renewal of “How To Get Away With Murder” on May 10. Based on the previous seasons’ releases, the show is expected to premiere on the last week of September, somewhere between Sept. 23 and Sept. 27. No official news on the exact date has been released as of writing.
