Kate Middleton has been a member of the royal family for the past eight years. Until today, her marriage to Prince William seems to be very strong.

When she first joined the royal family in 2011, the Duchess of Cambridge made a decision to not follow in her late mother-in-law’s footsteps. When Princess Diana was still alive, she rebelled against Prince Charles by overshadowing him. According to royal expert Katie Nicholl, this became one of her biggest flaws.

In the article she wrote for Vanity Fair, Nicholl said that the mom of three vowed to create a name for herself in the royal family and among royal fans. Middleton decided to not outshine Prince William, and she also saw to it that she is always walking one step behind him. This way, she will be able to follow her husband’s lead.

“Tall and slender, just like Diana, Kate possesses poise that is nothing short of regal, and she seemed confident and, above all, happy,” Nicholl said. “Unlike Diana, who made it her quest to rebel against the royal grain, Kate appeared to adhere to the protocol expected of her instinctively,” she added.

Even though Kate Middleton never got the chance to meet Princess Diana in person, royal expert Ingrid Seward said that she’s confident the late royal would love Prince William’s wife. Princess Diana would’ve reveled in how beautiful her daughter-in-law is and how she seemingly does everything right.

When it comes to her grandchildren, Princess Diana would’ve been a “goddess grandmother.” The doting grandmother of Prince George, 5, Princess Charlotte, 4, and Prince Louis, 1, would’ve been wary of Middleton’s mom, Carole. Seward said that Princess Diana would’ve sized Carole up right away the first time they are introduced to each other.

Unfortunately, Princess Diana never had the chance to meet her grandchildren with Prince William and Kate Middleton, as well as her grandson with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. But, the Duke of Cambridge previously revealed that he shares stories about his mom to his children so that they will know who she is.
