A Wisconsin son accused of the ghastly murder of his parents allegedly dismembered their bodies and burned their heads in his fireplace after they found out that he was faking his SpaceX employment.

The suspect, Chandler Halderson, 23, is on trial, facing charges of mutilating a corpse, hiding a corpse, and providing false information about a missing person following the death of his parents Bart Halderson, 50, and Krista Halderson, 53, Futurism reported.

According to prosecutors, Halderson fibbed plans to move to Florida for a career at SpaceX last summer. He is accused of disguising his time spent playing video games all day by telling his parents he was attending back-to-back SpaceX meetings that never happened.

Investigators believe that when Bart figured out the deceit, the son shot the patriarch in the back on July 1, 2021. He would then kill his mother Krista after she returned home a few hours later, according to ABC News.

After the appalling murder, Halderson allegedly dismembered their corpses and scattered the remains in ditches, farmland, and trash cans around the area. A week later, he reported them missing to the police.

The son told the cops that Bart and Krista never returned home to Dane County from a Fourth of July weekend trip. He noted the couple went to their cabin in northern Wisconsin.

Meanwhile, Halderson's attorney Catherine Dorl claims that the 23-year-old neither killed his parents nor chopped up their limbs. She further argues the "kid" was just really into video games. However, there is substantial evidence suggesting the suspect went to extreme lengths to keep up his scheme.

Police found out that the man had forged paper trails claiming he is a graduating student of a renewable resources engineering program at Madison Area Technical College, Wisconsin State Journal noted.

In his opening statements, Dane County attorney William Brown said the defendant created an amazing web of lies despite being a school dropout in reality.

After telling his parents he needed to stay in Florida for his bogus job at SpaceX, Handerson would fabricate a head injury and concussion to buy some time, prosecutors say. Investigators further unraveled that there were remains of a human skull in his fireplace, where the suspect had burned his parents’ heads.

Meanwhile, a bloody tarp, several saw blades, an SKS rifle, and other dangerous weapons in his possession were also located and confiscated by police. Halderson was also accused of making a shopping list in his phone's app, which included chemicals like hydrogen peroxide and lemon to allegedly clean bloodstains.
