A man allegedly stabbed a 16-year-old girl to death for not accepting the friend request that he had sent her on Facebook in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, India on Sunday, June 19.

The accused, identified as Ravi, reportedly reached the 16-year-old victim's home on Sunday, June 19, while the victim’s father, Tejveer Singh, had gone off to work his shift as a security guard. Ravi allegedly entered the victim's home on the pretext of delivering an invitation card for a wedding. However, as the girl walked toward Ravi to collect the wedding invitation, he pulled out a knife that he had hidden in the card and allegedly began stabbing her multiple times, subsequently resulting in her death at the scene, Times Now reported.

Upon hearing the girl’s screams, the girl's mother Sunita rushed to the room and tried to stop the assault. However, Ravi attacked her with the knife as well, stabbing her in the back and the shoulders. After attacking the victim's mother, the suspect allegedly tried to kill himself with the knife.

Following the incident, Sunita was rushed to a hospital for immediate treatment. She is currently at the local city hospital in critical condition. Meanwhile, the accused, who tried to kill himself, is also currently undergoing treatment in the district hospital, OpIndia reported.

A case has been registered against Ravi based on the complaint registered by Tejveer Singh, the father of the murdered girl. In his complaint, Tejveer alleged that Ravi killed his daughter after she did not accept his friend request on Facebook.
