Bauchi State Police Command arrested Lamido Gundumago, for allegedly killing his pregnant girlfriend, Jamila Saidu.

Bauchi State's Police Public Relations Officer Ahmed Wakil said the perpetrators aimed to abort the woman's baby. The suspects, the official said, caused her and the newborn's death.

Wakil said the suspect dumped the bodies in his compound's sewage system before fleeing to Kwadon in Gombe State, where he was apprehended.

"On April 7, about 12 pm, one Saidu Iliyasu came to Jama'are Divisional Headquarters and reported that on April 5, his daughter, one Jamila Saidu (35), was declared missing," he said per Sahara Reporters.

The officer said officials organized a search party but to no avail. However, they found her decomposed body with a newborn in sewage at her boyfriend's house identified as Lamido Gunduma at Unguwar Yari-Mari, Jamaare, on April 8 at 10:30 a.m.

During the preliminary investigation, officials revealed that the above suspect conspired with one Ishaq Abdullahi to abort her pregnancy, which resulted in induced labor.

Jamila and her baby died as a result of this. the perpetrator is now under prosecution.

In another development obtained by Nigerian Tribute, the police announced that three suspects have been arrested in connection with the robbery case by detectives from the Bauchi State Police Command.

On April 4, at around 3:00 am, the suspects conspired and assaulted one Salisu Muhammad of Federal Low Cost in his home, robbing him of his valuables. Authorities identified the suspects as Kamaluddeen Adamu, 22; Murtala Muhammed, 22; and Ahmad Muhammad, 19; all of Railway area of Bauchi Metropolis.

According to the police, the suspects were found with a Jincheng Ladies Motorcycle worth N45,000 ($108.00), four packages of wrappers, six cellphones of various models, and one HP Laptop.

Also, operatives of the Bauchi Police Command's State Intelligence Bureau, acting on reliable intelligence, arrested Shuaib Abubakar, a 23-year-old Ganjuwa LGA resident. Abubakar is currently doing his compulsory National Youth Service (NYSC) at Roni LGA in Jigawa State but was visiting a friend in Bauchi.

Officials apprehended the defendant on May 6, 2021, after defrauding two businessmen, Emeka Aaron and Ahmed Muhammed, by using a forged bank transfer to pay for goods he had bought from them.

During questioning, the suspect confessed to being a fraudster and revealed that he is a graduate of a university in Kampala, Uganda, with a degree in Medical Physiology.

Officials recorded two SIM cards, one cellphone, and a student ID card from ESGT University in Cotonou, Benin Republic from him, and he will be charged in court very soon.
