A 42-year-old man allegedly raped his 15-year-old minor daughter as punishment after seeing her spend too much time on her mobile phone in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India.
The father, a trader by profession, reportedly got angry after seeing his teen daughter wasting too much time on her cell phone. Out of anger and frustration, he allegedly forced himself on her and raped her multiple times over the last few months as some sick form of punishment, India Today reported.
On Saturday, Jan. 22, the underage girl refused to leave her school even after all her classes ended. When she was questioned by one of her teachers, the girl informed her that she did not want to go back home as her father has been sexually assaulting her.
Following this, the teacher called her father to school for an intervention. The accused reportedly subsequently confessed to his heinous crimes and apologized. The teacher assisted the minor girl in filing a police complaint against her father on Saturday evening, Jan. 22.
The daughter had reportedly been taking care of her father alone since the accused's wife had fallen sick five months ago. The father reportedly fell ill two years ago after both his kidneys failed. Following this, his wife donated one of her kidneys to him. Apart from the 15-year-old victim, the couple also has a 13-year-old son, the Free Press Journal reported.
After the incident was brought to the police's attention, the father was arrested and sent to judicial remand on Sunday, Jan. 23.
In a similar but unrelated incident, an Indian father allegedly mercilessly raped his own 22-year-old daughter on June 7, 2021, after taking her to a hotel on the pretext of a supposed scheduled job interview in Haryana, India, Latin Times reported.
The incident came to light after the daughter and her mother gathered enough courage to seek assistance at a local police station and lodge an official complaint against their patriarch. The two women alleged that the father not only raped his daughter but also filmed the obscene act on camera.
After the father took the girl to the room, the father reportedly pinned down his daughter and tied her hands. He proceeded to tape her mouth shut before going forward with the rape while taking lewd videos of the brutal act using his phone,
The abusive patriarch allegedly warned her that he would circulate the video in their village if she told anyone about the ordeal.
A few days later, the daughter managed to find time alone with her mother, after going to a market to buy produce, and proceeded to narrate the horrifying assault.
The man has been booked under Section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and several sections of the IT (Information Technology) Act of 2000.
