An Australian man was convicted after he admitted that he had shot his neighbor’s dogs dead and then dumped their bodies on his property.

ABC Australia reported that the incident happened on the man’s property at Riverton, in South Australia’s mid-north in December 2018.

The dogs’ owners reported to police about their missing pets that included a five-year-old golden Labrador named Darcy, and a four-year-old black Labrador named Yoda. The owners said that they had heard gunshots early in the morning of Dec. 11, 2018 and even drove around their neighborhood but the dogs were nowhere to be found.

Four days later a man confessed to the South-Australian Police that he had shot the dogs dead and buried their bodies on his property. It was later confirmed after the cops were able to recover the animal corpses from the man’s property.

The 72-year old man has pleaded guilty to two counts of ill-treatment to an animal after he had killed his neighbor’s pet dog and was later convicted. The senior was also fined $3,847 and ordered to pay $2,193 to the pet owner as compensation.

Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) South Australia chief inspector Andrea Lewis described that these dogs were "friendly natured family pets" and they were not meant to harm anyone or anything. These dogs had simply wandered off the man’s property and “tragically ended up being in the crosshairs of a shotgun.” she added.

Lewis concluded that she was deeply concerned that the man thought that it was within his rights to shoot the animals because they entered his property.

Meanwhile, another man was arrested on Monday after he shot a dog dead for allegedly stealing his golf ball. The crime against animals took place on Saturday at the Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Resort in the north coastal town of Río Grande. Puerto Rican police found out that Zaveri used a 9mm gun to shoot the dog multiple times.

According to ABC News, Zaveri, sales and marketing consultant and the CEO of Zaveri Consulting, LLC was released on a $60,000 bond but his passport and driver's license had been confiscated.
