A man allegedly strangled his girlfriend to death for breaking up with him in the Lohegaion area of Pune, India on Sunday, Feb. 6.

The accused, identified as Ghulam Shaikh, a native of Bihar, reportedly had an extramarital affair with the 39-year-old victim, Sunita Suryawanshi, before the brutal murder.

After the victim, a married woman, broke up with Shaikh earlier this month, he allegedly got enraged and forced himself into the victim's home while she was alone. He proceeded to engage in a heated argument with her before strangling her to death in a fit of frustration, Times Now reported.

Shaikh was reportedly a tenant staying in Suryawanshi's house when they began seeing each other romantically. However, when Shaikh went home to his village during the COVID-19 lockdown, Suryawanshi's family members found out about the extramarital affair and warned her to end it.

When Shaikh returned, Suryawanshi broke all ties with him and decided to end the relationship. Shaikh, who was reportedly irritated after noticing that the victim had stopped talking to him, stormed the victim's residence. Shaikh proceeded to assault the married Suryawanshi and choked her to death.

Following the murder, the victim's husband Raghunath Suryawanshi, 42, filed a complaint at the local police station. The authorities have lodged a case under sections 302, 452, and 427 of the Indian Pena Code at the Vimantal Police Station in connection with the matter.

Meanwhile, police inspector Bharat Jadhav commented on the incident and said, "Cops have already gone to Bihar to search for the accused, and will be arrested soon. Investigation to trace the killer is ongoing.”

In a similar but unrelated incident, a man has been accused of savagely stabbing his girlfriend at least 18 times and leaving her in a pool of her own blood after the victim refused to marry him in Hyderabad, India on Nov. 10, 2021, Latin Times reported.

The accused, identified as Basavaraj, and the victim, Sirisha, were reportedly in a relationship before the brutal attack. However, when Basavaraj expressed his desire to marry the victim two months before the incident, Sirisha refused his proposal. She went on to get engaged to another man, Shridhar.

This reportedly enraged Basavaraj and in a fit of anger, he walked over to the victim's residence in Hastinapuram and began attacking her with a knife. He allegedly stabbed his former girlfriend about 18 times before leaving her in a pool of her own blood.
