Looking to move up the twenty-team Barclays Premier League table, Manchester United is in the market for added midfield help and the January transfer window could serve as the best and most immediate way to input depth. Hit with multiple injuries throughout the season while watching first-year midfielder Marouane Fellaini struggle to adapt to his new home at Old Trafford has pushed manager David Moyes to seek help at the mid positions and with the club keeping tabs on Borussia Dortmund’s Marco Reus and Juventus star Arturo Vidal among others, the Red Devils appear willing to sign top-level players with the hopes of finishing the season in the top four of the BPL.

While upgrades are the main goal for United during the winter period, multiple sources indicate the defending BPL champs could sell one of the club’s most popular players to a league rival. According to NBC Sports, Manchester United is prepared to sell Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez to Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal Gunners. Arsenal -- who currently sit first in the Premier League -- are highly interested in adding talented strikers in order to provide assistance to Olivier Giroud. Giroud was recently sidelined with an ankle injury and with only Lukas Podolski and Nicklas Bendtner taking the charge at the striker position, the acquisition of a scorer like Chicharito would certainly go a long way.

Hernandez has been seeking a bigger role with the first team at Old Trafford and understands that a move away from the BPL giants may be the best way to stay on the field in an impactful way. Despite the intrigue of outside clubs, Chicharito’s agent Eduardo Hernandez said three weeks ago that No. 14 will remain with the Red Devils, even if multiple clubs have contacted Man U higher-ups about his services. Tottenham, Arsenal, Inter Milan and a handful of others remain interested in the Mexican national team star.

“I had a meeting with Manchester United's people about 10 days ago and they confirmed that there has been interest from various European clubs but it is not in their plan to transfer him,” Eduardo Hernandez said. “Yes, they are aware that his impact has been limited but little by little he will integrate more. Against Stoke his pass led to a goal, so all he needs are more minutes.”

Whether or not a move away from Old Trafford materializes for Javier Hernandez remains to be seen but Caught Offside notes that the Arsenal Gunners are prepared to launch a January bid for the 25-year-old, who has spent the last 3 1/2 years with Manchester United.
