Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo was not approached by Bayern Munich this summer for a reason.

Now, Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has shared why the club officials voted against making an approach for the star footballer, reported 90 Min.

Ronaldo has reportedly grown frustrated at his current team. It started happening after the club’s failure to qualify for this season’s Champions League. So he apparently asked the Old Trafford hierarchy to consider offers for him. It seemed like Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid and Chelsea were interested in the 37-year-old player, but soon they all backed out. Ronaldo’s first professional club Sporting Clube de Portugal (Sporting CP) have also shown interest.

This summer, Bayern brought in Sadio Mane. Despite selling Robert Lewandowski, they are flush with attacking talent. Even though they lost Lewandowski, it hasn’t slowed them down. So far, they are averaging five goals per game in the new Bundesliga campaign.

On the subject of the Ronaldo saga, Salihamidzic said that when you now see how "our attack is equipped, even without Robert Lewandowski, it's just difficult from a sporting and financial point of view." He shared that they have eight players for four positions upfront, and they have established "top players who are in the prime of their footballing age." He noted that they have talent that they want to give "playing time too, so we all voted to go through with our plan." According to him, signing Ronaldo was "out of question for us. We are very happy with how we're equipped.”

Man Utd manager Erik ten Hag recently reiterated that Ronaldo remains in the club’s plans, but the boss might be privately prepared to sanction a departure. According to Twelfth Man Times, Ronaldo has not had the best of starts to the new season as Ten Hag benched him in their first game of the season, against Brighton. But Ronaldo did make an appearance as he came off the bench in the second half.

Ten Hag reinstated Ronaldo in their second Premier League game of the season, against Brentford, but the Portuguese footballer could not contribute much as his team suffered a defeat. Again, he dropped Ronaldo to the bench against Liverpool, and after various decisions taken by the manager, the club secured their first win of the campaign. They defeated Liverpool 2-1.

SB Nation reported that Ronaldo is looking to exit Man Utd in search of Champions League football. But it has been extremely hard for him to find a home even though as he is still immensely talented despite his age.
