The Mega Millions jackpot has climbed to an estimated $421 million after nobody won the top prize in the drawing held on Tuesday, Jan. 25. This is reportedly the 13th highest jackpot for the Mega Millions since the lottery started in 2002.

Since nobody won the $396 million Mega Millions jackpot for Tuesday night’s drawing, the top prize has surged to over $421 million ahead of Friday, Jan. 28 night's drawing. The cash option for the massive prize reportedly sits at $290.9 million.

The winning numbers drawn on Tuesday, Jan. 25, were 3, 12, 38, 53, and 58. The Megaball was 13 and the Megaplier was 3x, NorthJersey.com reported.

Even though nobody won the grand prize for Tuesday night’s drawing, two tickets matched all five white balls and won million-dollar prizes each. A ticket sold in Texas and a ticket sold in Rhode Island reportedly won the $1-million prizes. The Rhode Islander had the Megaplier which tripled his winnings to $3 million, KMID reported.

Mega Millions lottery players choose six numbers from two separate pools of numbers: five different numbers from 1 to 70 and one number from 1 to 25. In order to win the jackpot, a player has to match all these six numbers with the digits that come up in the drawing.

The largest Mega Millions jackpot in history stood at an unbelievable $1.537 billion and was won in South Carolina on Oct. 23, 2018.

The Mega Millions jackpot has not had a winner since Oct. 22, 2021, when an Arizona family matched all six numbers in the drawing to claim a $108-million prize.

The Mega Millions ticket costs $2 per stub and is drawn twice weekly on Tuesdays and Fridays at 11 p.m.
