Thanksgiving is right around the corner and while most of the Royal family have no plans of celebrating a festival which is primarily American, the Sussexes were planning a trip to the US to celebrate the festival with Meghan Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland. But now it appears that Meghan may be reconsidering her plans, probably because of their decision to take a six-week break from royal duties by the end of 2019.

Last year, the Duchess had spent Thanksgiving holiday at her old home in Kensington Palace accompanied by her husband Prince Harry for whom she cooked a traditional Thanksgiving meal. This year, the royal couple had been planning to spend the holiday in the Duchess' native US but now, as per sources, Meghan Markle may be thinking of celebrating Thanksgiving in Britain rather than travelling to the United States as she wants to spend the day helping out at a homeless shelter in London.

So, with the change of plans, sources close to Meghan have reported that royal couple may ask Doria to spend Thanksgiving at Frogmore Cottage with her daughter, son-in-law, and seven-month-old grandson Archie instead.

“From what I know, they aren't coming here [to Los Angeles]. Doria is going there for the holiday [Thanksgiving],” a source disclosed to the Daily Mail. “They won't be officially celebrating Thanksgiving because it isn't a British holiday but Meghan is considering spending some of the day helping out at a homeless shelter in London.”

The royal couple will also be celebrating Christmas this year with Doria as per a report in The Sun which specified that Meghan and Prince Harry won’t be at Sandringham with the Queen during the festival in order to “recharge their batteries.”

The Palace said: "The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are looking forward to extended family time towards the end of this month. This decision is in line with the precedent set previously by other members of the Royal Family, and has the support of Her Majesty The Queen."

While the question of where Doria will be spending Thanksgiving with Meghan and Prince Harry is yet to be answered, one thing has been finalized- other family members of the Duchess are not going to join the festivities.
