Brazilian influencer and model Yago Luiz de Campos e Silva, 25, was found dead in the private pool of a hotel on the island of Mykonos, Greece. He was staying in the Ornos region and traveling with fellow content creator Ryan Silveira, 23, who was rescued alive and remains hospitalized. Local police have opened an investigation into the circumstances of the case.
According to initial reports published by Brazilian outlets, hotel staff called emergency services after noticing water leaking and finding the two young men unconscious in the pool area. Ryan later regained consciousness after spending some time in a coma, according to relatives quoted in the press. Yago was confirmed dead at the scene by paramedics.
The Brazilian Embassy in Athens was notified by Greek police of the death at 6:40 p.m. on Saturday, August 23, and confirmed it is following the case and assisting the family. An autopsy was requested by authorities to determine the cause of death.
Reports indicate the incident happened in a luxury hotel in Ornos, one of Mykonos's most popular beaches. In some accounts, a cleaning staff member noticed water leakage and, upon entering the room, found the two Brazilians unconscious in the pool. The hotel staff, police, and medical services were immediately called.
Brazilian media, citing Greek sources, noted that materials like white powder and a syringe were seized from the room, and forensic examinations are underway. An autopsy has been requested for Campos. Authorities have not released any conclusions, and the autopsy results are expected to guide the next steps of the investigation. So far, there is no official confirmation of the cause of death.
Yago was born in Jacareí, in the state of São Paulo, and lived in the city of São José dos Campos. He was celebrating his 25th birthday during the trip. On social media, he had thousands of followers and often shared photos of international trips along with his modeling work. Friends and family expressed grief online, while followers called for answers.
Ryan Silveira, who was traveling with Yago, is an actor and OnlyFans content creator. His family told the press that he came out of the coma and is showing clinical improvement, although he remains hospitalized. Greek authorities continue to investigate the case but have not confirmed whether a criminal inquiry will follow beyond routine suspicious-death procedures.
Campos' sister Thamyris defended her brother's reputation amidst speculation of what he was doing with Campos. She wrote on social media that "We here still know what happened! You should respect a mother who loses a son, a father who is in tears, and a sister capable of giving her own life for him. My brother wasn't a prostitute, or a drug addict as they're saying, my brother was a hard worker, he had dreams and he ran hard after those dreams!"
Yago's family and Brazil's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Itamaraty) are awaiting legal procedures for the repatriation of his body. Official information about funeral services and burial had not been disclosed by the time of publication. More details are expected following the release of the autopsy report and Greek police findings.
