A mother will resort to anything to protect her offspring. It was the case for a 33-year-old mother who is accused of stabbing a 13-year-old who trespassed and beat up her 7-year-old boy who was playing with other children at the Kamhuka family yard.

The accused was identified as Monalisa Choguya, a 33-year-old mother from 188 Single Quarters who stabbed Tonderai Kamhuka of 1644B Single Quarters, Mpata. Per reports, Choguya stabbed Kamhuka at the back of the head and in the stomach after her son informed her of the assault.

“The incident occurred around 10am on Tuesday when a seven-year-old child trespassed into the now-complainant’s yard which resulted in Tonderai beating the minor who ran home and told his mother,” Mashonaland West police spokesperson Inspector Margaret Chitove stated.

At that point, Kamhuka had allegedly chased the child to their house. Choguya came to her son’s aid and confronted the teenager. From here, an altercation ensued with Kamhuka reportedly charging at the 33-year-old with a lemon tree branch.

Choguya would then run into their house and arm herself with a knife. This was the weapon she allegedly used to stab the teenager.

The incident occurred on Feb. 23 at around 10:00 a.m. Kamhuka ended up with a deep wound in the stomach that resulted in his intestines protruding and a deep gush at the back of his head. In the course of the crime, the 33-year-old also suffered a cut on her left hand.

The 13-year-old attacker was taken to the Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital for treatment and was later on transferred to Parirenyatwa. The teenager is reportedly fighting for his life with his condition said to be critical.

For her part, Choguya was arrested and is now in police custody.
