The Chicago Bulls reportedly have their eyes on LaMelo Ball, someone who can undoubtedly broaden the offensive options of new head coach Billy Donovan. However, landing the 19-year-old will be tricky. They can either trade up now or wait until after the 2020 NBA Draft on Nov. 18.

To sweeten the pot, the Bulls are allegedly open to including Wendell Carter Jr. with the fourth overall pick for the NBA Draft according to Zach Lowe of ESPN. Between Carter and Lauri Markkanen, the latter is untouchable and someone the Bulls prefer to keep.

The interest in Ball could throw some off. This is mainly because the Bulls have Zach LaVine and Coby White in tow, a couple of guards who are shooting guards. So adding Ball may shuffle things a bit. Donovan could opt to place two combo guards at the same time, assuming that any of the three would be open to playing as Chicago’s court general.

Ball is the top guy that most see going first in the 2020 NBA Draft. Anthony Edwards and James Wiseman are the other two top names. The rights to the top pick are with the Minnesota Timberwolves although that could change in the coming weeks or by draft night. The Golden State Warriors are selecting second but are also listening to offers. So far, nothing has come close to the T-Wolves or the Dubs agreeing to a deal.

Ball has shown that he could be a big boost to any team’s offense. Before falling to injury in the NBL, the younger brother of Lonzo Ball normed 17 points, 7.4 rebounds and 6.8 assists per game.

There is no telling on who the Bulls could take in at no. 4, assuming that no deal has been made before Nov. 18. The name of Deni Avdija has surfaced as a possible target. His shooting has been widely lauded and adding a solid shooter next season could aid other players like LaVine or Markkanen, the Chicago Tribune reported.

Right now, it all boils down to what Donovan needs to make his system work. Ball is a tempting target although Edwards is not so bad as well.
