A Nigerian woman was allegedly abducted, raped, and eventually killed by unknown assailants in the Ogun State, authorities said

The victim, Happiness Okwa, a Mass Communication student of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) in Abeokuta, was kidnapped by unidentified gunmen on Aug. 9, when she was on her way to Ipara, in Ode Remo, to visit a movie location, reports said.

Okwa was the winner of several beauty contests and was crowned Miss MAPOLY on Aug. 3, this year.

Confirming the incident, the MAPOLY Students Union President, Sodiq Ajani, said Okwa’s death is not related to her status as the new Miss MAPOLY.

“Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Students Union (MAPSU) announces the untimely death of Miss Happiness Odeh, a Mass Communication student of MAPOLY,” the statement read.

“According to reports, she was abducted along Iperu road to her destination. The deceased left Abeokuta three days ago to visit a movie location at Ipara, Ode-Remo, with the consent of her parents.

“Contrary to the rumors flying around, her death is not related to her status as the new Miss MAPOLY. She won the award on the 3rd of August and the movie location she attended has nothing to do with the beauty pageantry on campus.

“We commiserate with her family, friends, and colleagues. May Almighty God grant us all the fortitude to bear this painful loss. Continue to rest in the bosom of the Lord,” the statement read.

The SUG President further explained that the assailants also took away the victim’s phone.

The police have registered a case and the investigators are making efforts to identify the assailants and get them arrested.

In a similar incident, a 19-year-old woman was heinously assaulted and gang raped by three young men after a birthday party in Modi Nagar town Ghaziabad, India on Sunday, Aug. 14.

The unnamed 19-year-old victim was reportedly attending a birthday party on Sunday when things took a tragic turn.

At the party, a man allegedly served her a drink laced with sedatives. As she began losing consciousness, the suspect reportedly took her to a room and called his friends to join him. The three accused men, identified only as Shekhar, Krishna, and Arjun then took turns raping the drugged young victim.

The victim, who was reportedly in a semi-conscious state during the entire ordeal, attempted to fight them off but they easily overpowered her. The group allegedly began thrashing the woman as she fought back and threatened to kill her if she disclosed the incident to anyone.

After the ordeal, the trio abandoned the woman in the room and quickly fled the scene together.

Upon reaching home, the teen victim narrated the horrifying ordeal to her family. Following this, on Monday, Aug. 15, the victim along with her father went to the Modi Nagar Police Station and lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against the three accused men.

An inquiry has been launched into the assault, and all the three accused were arrested.
