With the 2013 American League Division Series between the Oakland A's and Detroit Tigers tied at one game apiece, the best three-out-of-five slate heads to Detroit with the Tigers looking to regain series control after dropping Game 2 in Oakland. Led by a stout offense and tremendous pitching, the Tigers and star outfielder Torii Hunter hope to take the next 2 games at home even though earning the first 2 on the road would have been nice. The idea of leaning on defending American League MVP Miguel Cabrera for consistent offense isn't a bad idea either, according to Hunter.

"It would have been nice to take two in Oakland," Hunter said following the Game 2 loss. "But they're a Major League ball club, American League West champions. They're a professional team. We took one of two there, and we'll go home now and see if we can get it rolling. Miggy is amazing. He hit .348 with one or two infield hits all season. That's unbelievable, when you think about it. He'd love to be able to run, but that's not what he's here for, he's here to hit. And when he gets rolling, look out."

In 2 ALDS contests, Cabrera is 2-for-8 with no home runs and 2 RBI. Expected to heat up as the postseason progresses, one of the major reasons Cabrera has been held in check is because of the tremendous effort of the Oakland pitching staff.

Headlined by gritty performances from veteran Bartolo Colon (6.0 IP, 3 ER in Game 1 loss) and Sonny Gray (8.0 IP, 0 ER, 9K in Game 2 win) the Oakland Athletics are capable of taking down any opponent. Up against a strong Detroit pitching staff that features Max Scherzer, Justin Verlander and Game 3 starter Anibal Sanchez however, A's manager Bob Melvin knows the task of scoring runs won't be easy, even though the Athletics hammered the A's with 34 runs in a late August series against their ALDS opponents.

"Against these guys, you wouldn't have expected that," Melvin said of his team's winning 3 of 4 against Detroit while scoring a high number of runs. "But we just had a lot of momentum once we scored a bunch of runs the first game. We were getting pitch counts up, getting into the bullpen -- a little different dynamic than what we're looking at right now."
