A man in London who was found dead in a woodland with a woman in a car has been identified as Turkish radio DJ Koray Alpergin. The 43-year-old DJ, the owner of London radio station Bizim FM, was found on Saturday by police in Loughton, Essex.

Authorities reported that Alpergin was reported missing Friday last week along with an unnamed woman who was described by cops as somewhere in her 30s. Based on initial evidence, Alpergin and his female companion, reportedly his girlfriend, were suspected to have been abducted from a residence on Ebony Crescent in the north London area on Thursday evening. The woman was located and reported to be unharmed, Daily Mail reported.

The Turkish Police Association said they support the investigations into the tragic incident while urging the community to come forward should they have any information relating to the case. Essex Police Detective Chief Inspector Kate Kieran has also urged residents in the Ebony Crescent area to check on doorbell cameras or dashcam footage for anything they may have captured that could be crucial to the probe.

Meanwhile, three men from Kent have been linked to the case and were arrested by police. The suspects remain in custody although police did not provide any details as to why they were arrested. Alpergin’s girlfriend was reportedly visiting him from Istanbul at the time of their abduction. It is said that the couple was bundled into a car after returning from a nightclub.

British-Turkish news website T-Vine claimed that around six assailants were responsible for the abduction while another Turkish news site, Hürriyet reported that the DJ was shot in the head and killed. The new site was also the first to name him publicly.

Post-mortem reports are still being processed to determine Alpergin’s cause of death but Essex police have already established his death as being suspicious. DCI Kieran assured the community that police presence and visibility will remain in the Oakwood Hill Industrial Estate in the coming days while authorities dig deeper into the investigation. Multiple agencies and units have been involved with teams working on the case 24/7.

Tributes from around the world have flooded social media with the Turkish Press describing Alpergin as “London’s beloved Radio DJ.”
