Republican Rep. Thomas Massie criticized Donald Trump after the president slammed him over his opposition to the administration's attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities on Sunday.

Trump "declared so much War on me today it should require an Act of Congress," said Massie in a social media post, to which he added the hashtag #sassywithmassie.

The lawmaker was making reference to an initiative he launched last week that would limit Trump's path to entering war with Iran. The resolution, introduced before Trump green-lighted the attack, claimed that Congress had to decide whether the U.S. should enter war with Iran.

"I'm introducing a bipartisan War Powers Resolution tomorrow to prohibit our involvement. I invite all members of Congress to cosponsor this resolution," Massie added. The bill was co-sponsored by Democratic lawmaker Ro Khanna.

Massie, an isolationist who has frequently criticized the U.S.'s military support of Israel, has been one of few Republicans willing to break with Trump on different issues. The president has frequently criticized Massie, but dedicated him a lengthy post on Sunday claiming he is "not MAGA, even though he likes to say he is."

"Actually, MAGA doesn't want him, doesn't know him, and doesn't respect him. He is a negative force who almost always votes 'NO,' no matter how good something may be. He's a simple minded 'grandstander' who thinks it's good politics for Iran to have the highest level Nuclear weapon, while at the same time yelling 'DEATH TO AMERICA' at every chance they get," Trump said in a passage of his post.

"He is disrespectful to our great military, and all that they stand for, not even acknowledging their brilliance and bravery in yesterday's attack, which was a total and complete WIN. Massie should drop his fake act and start putting America First, but doesn't know how to get there," Trump added.

In fact, Axios reported on Sunday that Trump's team launched Kentucky MAGA, a super PAC aimed at having Massie defeated in next year's primary election. The effort will be led by senior political advisers Tony Fabrizio and Chris LaCivita. LaCivita said the PAC would spend "whatever it takes" to defeat Massie.
