Arizona Sen. Ruben Gallego criticized president Trump in a social media post on Thursday over the detention in Britain of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly known as Prince Andrew, due to his links to sexual abuser Jeffrey Epstein.
"Countries across the world are holding their Epstein class accountable," wrote Gallego on X. "It isn't happening in America because we have a pedo protector in the Oval Office running a government coverup for him and his friends." Gallego included a link to a New York Times report on the detention.

Former Prince Andrew, now known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, was arrested Thursday by Thames Valley Police on suspicion of misconduct in public office linked to his past association with Jeffrey Epstein. Authorities took him into custody on his 66th birthday and also searched his residences on the Sandringham estate and near Windsor as part of the investigation.
The arrest followed calls for an inquiry after documents surfaced that allegedly pointed to potential misconduct, prompting police to open a formal probe. King Charles III issued a statement after the detention saying that "what now follows is the full, fair and proper process," indicating the royal household would not interfere while the investigation proceeds.
Andrew faced years of controversy tied to his relationship with Epstein, which has significantly damaged his public standing and led to the loss of royal titles and honors in 2025. His arrest marks a rare event in modern British history involving a senior royal and signals escalating legal scrutiny connected to the broader Epstein case.
Gallego's post follows earlier comments he made pressing for more disclosure related to Epstein. On February 10, he criticized Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick during his testimony before the Senate Appropriations Committee.
After Lutnick testified that he had lunch with Epstein on Epstein's private island in 2012, saying he was traveling with his wife, children, and nannies, Gallego responded by saying: "You took your 4 children to have lunch with a man you knew to be a child abuser and pedophile? WTF."
