Selena Gomez may have canceled her Australian and Asian tour because the singer is suffering from Lupus. The Latina singer announced last week that she would be taking some time off and not be completing the last legs of her Stars Dance tour in order to take some time for herself. Reports have emerged today that the reason for the cancelation was health related: Pop Dust is reporting that the singer is dealing with the auto-immune disease Lupus.

A source close to the singer told Pop Dust "Selena has been going full throttle the past few years and her Lupus is really catching up with her right now. She knows that she needs to take some time to address the disease and look after herself better if she wants to live a full and healthy life.” Lupus is an auto-immune disease that particularly affects Latino women aged 15-35. It manifests in rashes, joint pains, fatigue and facial swelling. It is incurable but treatable.

“My fans are so important to me and I would never want to disappoint them,” said Selena Gomez in a statement released by Live Nation to the media. “But it has become clear to me and those close to me that after many years of putting my work first, I need to spend some time on myself in order to be the best person I can be. To my fans, I sincerely apologize and I hope you guys know how much each and every one of you mean to me.”
